World Monetary Reserve Exchange, phoney as a Three Dollar Bill

How about a Two Dollar Bill?

Saturday March 13, 2010
I grabbed  my cup of Java,
Slumped back into my
Recliner with my local
Newspaper in hand.
God it was depressing!!

Pelosi and Obama were
staring back at me from
Page One!

The Government run
Health Care scam was in full gear.
The vote would not be until next week but one would think it had already been
signed into law..
The Scammers were happy since they not only think they have shoved this
Health care down our throats, but also up our kazoo's. Figure it out!!

World Monetary Reserve Exchange!

Flipping section one over, I found a full page advertisement for the
World Monetary Reserve Exchange selling State Specific Two Dollar Bills.
Whoa! What the heck is that? Never heard of such a thing and this was for
Two Dollar Bills for the State of Utah.
I was afraid to look at the Sports Section for fear I might find some ad
for a new Tiger Wood book on Marital relationships.

Two Dollar Bills?

First of all our Government has one time of  another issued Two Dollar Bills.
Never have they issued any State Specific Two Dollar Bills.
Sound like a scam to me, so I did some checking on the Internet and found
some articles about the World Monetary Reserve Exchange.

Denver Post 2008

According to an article in the Denver Post a couple years ago, they had run
an ad for the World Monetary Reserve Exchange for some so called
un-circulated  One Dollar coins.
It mentioned that the seller World Monetary Reserve is an Ohio outfit
that trys to fool, fools, by running these full page ads in a format making
them look like NEWS.
Of course they are usually labeled in small print 'advertisement'!
They pointed out that the true value of those coins was about $1.00 each
and were being sold for $28 for 12 Plus that unknown called S&H!

Rare and Collectible?

Most of these scams are made to look like something of collectable value
is being offered and they must be limited to so many per household, but order
quickly since they will go fast and there is only a limited number available.
WOW!!
That was exactly what they claimed in the Newspaper ad today.
It appeared in my loclal Paper, the St. George Spectrum,
which is a Gannet owned publication.

Digging Deeper..

I found an article that appeared in a February Newsweek article advising
readers that these Two Dollar collectible bills were no more than official
US currency with stickers placed on them to convert them into a
State Specific version of the Bills!
In fact in the same issue, the World Reserve Monetary Exchange was
running a  two page ad Pages 60 & 61!
That ad like the one in my local paper today offers 4 $2 bills for only $12
if  you order within a couple days, after that the price goes up to $17 for
just one of these doctored $2 bills..

Further research of the Two Dollar Bill scam came up with an article
published in January of 2010 in the Arizona Daily Star Newspaper.
The Arizona Daily Star, just as my local Newspaper, is owned by Gannett,
and the Arizona Star claims the ad they ran came from the Phoenix
office of Gannett.
According to Chris Pugh a spokesperson for World Reserve Monetary
Exchange. The $2 bill  was very popular in the state of Arizona.
He also said they advertise it as a crisp un-circulated government issued bill
especially designed with an  overlay of a recognizable symbol and cityscape
for each state.
They are available for all 50 states.

Scam?

Maybe not as bad as the one Pelosi and Obama are working on, but
they all have one thing in common,, deceit!

Buyer beware!

Turning a plain $2 bill into a highly collectible treasure simply by pasting a
sticker on it is not much different than taking a Health Care system that works
for most people and shoving it down the throats of the American People
under the smoke and mirrors of Socialism.

That $17 Two Dollar Bill will always be worth 2 bucks.

That 1.5 Trillion Dollar Health Care bill, it we get lucky,
might be worth as much as our current health care system.

Now, dare I even look at the Sports Section?

I claim no astuteness when it come to money matters.I tene to be suspicious of all the hype ads for investments that come whenever we have a recession. Gold is the current thing I see hyped.Nothing against G. Gorden Liddy but is he the one I should look to for investment advice?

You definitely did your research; great hub. I’m surprised you could hold down your coffee with Pelosi and Obama staring back at you. King Hussein has staked his entire presidency on this issue and by god it’s gonna pass one way or the other. If they have to hire ACORN to Bart Stupak’s wife and family to get his vote they will and Chris Mathews will drive the getaway car for them!

After this bunch gets through with our economy our currency will be worth less than state issued two or national three dollar bills. In fact Confederate money is looking better every day!

The World Monetary Reserve sounds a lot like the Obama Administration; both try to fool fools; Obama fooled enough fools in this country to get elected. In fact they stole a play from the Clinton Playbook; how do we fool them today!

The scams you refer to sound like the blueprint being followed by Obama and his gang regarding the passage of healthcare; they gotta act quickly or the world as we know it will end.

Wow; what a deal 4 $2 bills for only $12; you only loose $4 with each purchase. Look out Tim Geithner, looks like we have a new Treasury Secretary on the horizon!

Great hub :) Appreciate your thoughts and insight. Agree about these scams being similar to the Obama Administration who is trying to sneak a Health Care Tax that is hidden in the numerous paged Health Care Reform Bill (U.S. Congress HR3200 with Provision 246). Any body read the U.S. Constitution any more? According to the main body of the U.S. Constitution adding a Health Care tax to "we the people" is unconstitional. Oh, by the way, so is income tax. Don't you just love our forsighted Founding Fathers? Looks like in 1913 the people looked the other way when a certain Amendment was snuck into the U.S. Constitution (was it properly ratified by all states?).....should we look the other way today? I personally do not think we "the voters" should. Our inalienable rights and liberty might be at stake.

Alice, if you wanted to destroy the American way of life, could you come up with a better plan than our current leaders have put in place. Health care will pass, congressmen will get on board or else, If the bill passes as is it could cause some to get mighty angry and I am afraid the war of words will become heated. But that is part of the master plan, and next on the agenda will not be Jobs, Immigration, but getting guns out of the hands of

Americans. Nothing just happens, it is all part of a calculated plan to Transform America,,, Transform it into what Mr. President???

How is this a scam. Its clearly stated that these are privatly printed over $2 bills. Nothing wrong with that...its kinda a cool idea. A novelty for sure. Charging $12 for a $2 bill? Its called profit and something every business has a right to. Toothpaste from the grocery store cost pennies to make and cost much more...I assume that is a rip off too?

Epic Beardman 23 months ago

Thanks man, I was about to do that fake offer thing. I saw it in USA Today

James 20 months ago

I agree with Michael, if you read the article they tell you that they are privately printed bills with no government affiliation. It's a business' right to make a profit on something they sell to consumers. People always try to make it like business' are out to screw people over. I wonder if you are a liberal in disguise with your naive view of business.

Dave 19 months ago

I totally agree with James and Micheal on this. The bills in question are actually rather well done. I personally hold all but 16 of the state bills with 8 of the missing 16 being shipped next week. So yes, I am one of the fools (as some people on here would call me). I signed on to recieve the full set more for the conversional value then the monetary value of the collection. People need to realize that flaming a compeny for creating a "market" for a product is not scamming the public - they are just trying to make their company a profit - which is an approved business practice.

Melinda 19 months ago

Hold on a minute. Hub is correct in the fact that they are fooling fools. Lets say Fools Gold for a better example. But on the business point of view I think we have the old saying "supply and demand". If the people demand it they will supply. "Limited offer" hmmmm. I think not. But if you purchase this as a collector, and the demand is out there it will be worth more....for a little while anyway. Then as the demand falls so will the price. I keep thinking, what ever happen to defacing and graffiti is that not exactly what they are doing to those poor 2 dollar bills I love so much?

My comment about this article is does anyone, including the publisher of this actually have one of these in their possession? Mine are a little older than 2010 as this seems to be the date this person initially saw this article in his local paper so maybe this is my mistake as the ones I have are different dates and honestly do not remember what company they were issued from as I do collect odd and interesting currency and coins from this and many other countries. The ones I received were actually sent to me by mistake in addition to an order I placed for a complete state quarter series (individually encased in Lucite cases) in a hardwood box which has a current market value of over 3 times what I paid for them a few years back. My $2 bills have NO stickers on them what so ever, is legal U.S. tender and is backed by the U.S. Govt., so either I or this auther are talking about different 2 dollar bills issued from different companies as mine have nothing listed in this particular article at all I have been offered much more than face value for these by several individuals and also companies which I can only assume would mark up and resell. According to what I have researched, these are extreme collectibles as only 1 in 5 thousand households will ever get a chance to see one, let alone have the opportunity to buy one. Not to say there are many scam artists that sell coins and bills issued from other countries and calling them U.S. currency from some silly place such as the bank of Liberia, (as seen on T.V. scam). The bottom line is research before you buy anything as there are uncountable scams out there but with due respect there are also uncountable great deals.

JksOrBtter@aol.com 7 months ago

I neglected to mention that the U.S. government actually did print a $3 bill which I currently am in possession of and am glad another person also commented on this as well as having one themselves. Extremely old and extremely valuable. As to the person who has had their fathers credit card charged over and over for something they did not order might I sugguest you simply contact your credit card issuing company and say its fraud. They will do an in depth investigation and force this company to show proof that this was ordered by you/your father and YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY 1 CENT unless they can actually prove either by recorder order with you/your fathers voice or a signed order form. If this was something done over the internet may I also suggest simply contacting the F.B.I. as they have an internet fraud division known as IC3 and can be filed online from anyplace. Best of luck to you all and remember research, research, research. That is how to invest as I have been fortunate so far and have quite a collection for my grandchildren to inherit once I am gone and with any luck, my investments will be able to send them all all the way through medical school. Don't worry, my children already received their fair share
